            to Top

"AUTO MECHANICS" - TTJ 2A - Grade 10 Auto Mechanics is designed to equip students with the fundamental
knowledge of various methods of transportation systems. A focus will
be put upon personal transportation, in particular the systems
involved with automobile ignition, fuel, and cooling which will be
studied with reference to function, location and operation. Students
should acquire competence in most essential shop and safety
procedures. This is an excellent introductory course for those
wishing to pursue further studies in the transportation industry.

 "AUTO MECHANICS" - TTJ 3A - Grade 11
Auto mechanics is designed for the students who wish to study the
purpose, construction and operation of the major units of the power
plants, transmission and running gear of the automobile. Minor
repairs and adjustments of engine, fuel, ignition, cooling and
lubrication systems are stressed as well as elementary skills in the
use of hand tools. Theory is directly related to project-driven
practical work. The integration of fundamental physics principles,
such as intertia, momentum, flotation, and energy in its various
forms becomes meaningful. Recommended Prep. TTJ 2A

 "AUTO OWNERSHIP" - TTJ 3A4 - Grade 11
Auto Ownership is a general interest Auto Owners course designed for
both female and male students who currently own an automobile or
will have one in the near future. Providing information and hands-on
experience on aspects of a vehicle, which every potential owner
should know will be the main objective of the course. Areas of study
will include: new and used vehicle inspections, strategies and
procedures for purchasing a vehicle, what you need to know about car
insurance, assessing repair estimates and road side repairs.
Practical work periods will provide opportunities for learners to
gain experience and develop confidence in performing various service
and maintenance requirements. Lessons will focus on principles
behind key areas of engine, driveline, brake and suspension systems
in order that potential owners have sufficient knowledge to make
            intelligent decisions about their vehicle.

 "AUTO MECHANICS" - TTJ 4A - Grade 12
Auto mechanics provides greater emphasis on computerized fuel,
engine, and emission control. Minor repairs and adjustments required
for general service and maintenance will be covered in the course. A
combination of theory and practical projects and workstations will
expose students to a wide range of skills required to complete this
course successfully. Testing and repair of single and multi-cylinder
engines, clutches, automatic and standard transmissions, drive
shafts, and rear axles are also covered. Recommended Prep. TTJ 3A

 Construction Technology - Back
            to Top

"WOODWORK" - TCJ 2G - Grade 10 Construction Technology emphasizes architectural design, building
construction and woodworking with instruction and projects focused
on the following: computer assisted design (CAD), architectural
design, model building, building construction, carpentry, and
electricity. This is an introductory project-oriented course.
Woodworking will involve the use of both hand and machine tools to
construct projects such as models light framing construction, and
            cabinet making.

 Manufacturing Technology - Back
            to Top

"MACHINE SHOP" - TMJ 2G - Grade 10 Machine shop is an integrated computer/power machine course designed
to allow students to explore the many areas in Manufacturing
Technology. These include: an overview of the manufacturing
industry, careers in manufacturing environmental concerns, product
design including computer assisted drafting (CAD), machining and
shaping of metal, plastics or wood using both computer assisted and
conventional machines such as the drill press, bandsaw, lathe, mill,
and plastic forming bench. Introduction to CNC (Computer numerical
control) program writing, precision measuring, pneumatics,
hydraulics and robotics may be included. By the end of the course
students will have acquired an overview of careers, environmental
concerns, designing, manufacturing and testing projects using both
computer and conventional machining methods. Teamwork will be
stressed through team-oriented projects. The focus is on high-tech
environmentally concerned manufacturing for the future.

 "MACHINE SHOP" - TMJ 3G - Grade 11
Machine shop builds on, refines and expands the basic concepts,
manufacturing skills and knowledge that were acquired in TMJ 2G
enabling the students to meet the challenges of more complex, high
technology projects. The main areas of focus will be: manufacturing
processes, product design, blueprint reading, computer assisted
drafting (CAD), solid modeling, computer assisted manufacturing
(CAM), and may include program writing for the computer numerical
control (CNC) machines, pneumatics, hydraulics, robotics, problem
solving, and an introduction to welding equipment and processes.
Emphasis will be placed on teamwork and computer-integrated
