The Toronto District School Board will be running an after-school Driver Education session here at Etobicoke C.I. from October 17th to December 19th on Tuesday from 3:30PM to 6:00PM. This course is Ministry-approved and provides participants eligibility for auto insurance discounts. Information and application forms are available at

The Election has come and gone and Students spoke loud and clear. At ECI the students narrowly elected the Liberal Candidate, Donna Cansfield followed closely by the Green Party candidate, Greg King. In the referendum, our students, in a very close race, selected to stick with the First Past the Post system.

Congratulations to Catherine Roseto and Maddy Dalzell who have been nominated by two staff members and have been chosen to represent our school at the Annual Status of Woman Awards Dinner on April 26th. Maddy had won for her positive community impact and Catherine for her impact on students.

The library is holding a spring cleaing contest. Enter at the spring cleaning display in the library. Clean your locker before Thursday. Evidence is required to win this contest:
Either before and after shots
OR haiku (5-7-5) describing the before and after
Submissions may form part of the Sping cleanup display.

Remember to throw your garbage in the trash containers and recycables in the bins.

Winners will be announced on Friday.

ECI Gets a Tank

After many months of hard work the Canadian Armed Forces has agreed to send a World War 2 Sherman Tank to ECI.

For the next several years students in the Auto shop will take part in restoring the 30-ton machine to operating condition. This historic vehicle should arrive at ECI in the next 2 weeks.

Urgent Need For Type "A" Blood

While there is a continuous need for all blood types, there is an URGENT need for Type "A" blood, due to high demand coupled with lower than usual turnout at blood donor clinics due to bad weather.

Canadian blood services is asking people with Type-A-Blood to call: 1888 2 Donate (1 888 236-6283) today and book an appointment to donate blood and save lives.
