This is for all students who have applied for college or university. There will be an OSAP (Ontario Student Assistance Program) presentation in the auditorium on Thursday, June 8th, during lunch.

Valedictorian Vote

Voting for the Valedictorian will take place in grade 12 English classes this week. If you are graduating but not taking English at ECI, you may vote and get other valuable information anytime on Wednesday or Thursday in the Guidance office.

University Registrars

This is a VERY IMPORTANT announcement to every student who has applied to University. It is very important that you log on to the OUAC website and check the marks that were submitted. Compare these to your report card marks and if there are ANY errors, come to the Guidance office immediately.
Ontario Legion Bursary

This bursary is for students who love parents or grandparents who are war veterens or members of the Royal Canadian Legion. You must be going to college or university and you must apply for OSAP first. For further details, pick up a form in the scholarship drawer in student services.

The University of Toronto is holding its 2nd annual "So you're going to University...What's next?" event for graduating students pursuing studies in Biology or related field. All students are welcome though. This will take place on Wednesday May 17 from 6:00 to 8:00PM at the St. George campus.
LKS Spring Fair

Do you want to earn some volunteer hours? On Saturday, May 13th, Lambton Kingsway Junior Middle School is having their Spring Fair. You can sign up for 1 to 4 hours to help organize one of the games. The children are from kindergarten to grade 8. Please sign up in the guidance office.

Scholarships

Lifestyle and Education Excellence Award - "The purpose of this award is to promote well rounded student development for ensuing post secondary education."

There are only 6 schools in the TDSB whose students qualify for this $1000 award and we can nominate 1 student from ECI. If you wish to be considered, see Ms. Ison by 3:30 on Monday, May 1.
Summer Mentorship Program at U of T

The TDSB and The University of Toronto are giving students an opportunity to earn co-op credits while working with university professors and senior university students in areas such as Medicine, Social Work, Health Professions, Law, Science, Engineering, Math, and Education. This will be in the summer from July 4 to August 11. If you are interested, see your counsellor as soon as possible.

Option Sheets Assembly

This is a reminder for students who do not take math or grade 12 students who are returning to ECI next year.

There will be an assembly on Friday at 1:15 to distribute option sheets and other materials. This assembly is not for students who were absent from their math class when option sheets were distributed. Those students should come to the Guidance Office at lunch or after school to pick up their option sheets.
National Engineering Week

This year, National Engineering Week, is from February 27 to March 3. We will have an Engineer visiting ECI on Tuesday, February 28 at lunchtime to talk about what Engineers do and careers in Engineering. If you are one of those who sign up in advance, you will get a pizza lunch as well. We can only accomodate 30 students, so sign up today.
Guidance Counsellors Visit Grade 9, 10, and 11s This Week

This week guidance counsellors will visit Grade 9, 10, and 11 classes to hand out Option Sheets and a lot of very important information. If you are not in one of these classses and plan on returning to ECI next year, there will be an assembly on Thursday at 1:15 in the auditorium.
RBC Scholarship

To be eligible for the RBC Royal Bank Lifeskills Scholarship you must be going to college or university with at least a 65% average, and more importantly be involved in community leadership, extra-curricular activities, volunteer service, or outside hobbies or interests. TDSB Virtual School Orientation Session

There will be a mandatory orientation session for students registered for second semester Virtual School on Wednesday, February 8 at 5:00 p.m. at Burnhamthorpe Collegiate Adult Learning Centre.

A technical fee of $20.00 per course will be collected from all students during the session.
