6th Annual Albion Hills Grade 8 Leadership Camp Success
Filed by Mohammed Abbas on Monday, April 30, 2007
This past weekend, a group of 20 grade 10, 11 and 12 students along with several teachers partook in the 6th Annual Albion Hill Grade 8 Leadership Camp. The camp was extremely successful and a special thanks goes out to Ms. Ison, Mr. Steponas, Mr. Mullington, Dr. Smale, Ms. Malo, and Ms. Oxley who were the dedicated teachers involved in planning the camp. Also, a thank you goes out to the exec who were responsible for leading the groups of leaders who planned daily activity, and it wouldn't have been possible without you. ECI has a solid group of leaders coming down the pipe next year and we are definitely looking forward to welcoming them to our school in September of 2007.

ECI Rocked by Best Battle of the Bands Yet
Filed by Mohammed Abbas on Thursday, April 26, 2007
Last night, ECI was rocked to its very foundation thanks to the best Battle of the Bands yet! Bands were in top form, the sound was superb, and the crowd was excited and receptive. All of the artists who performed deserve special mention for their musicality and enthusiasm. The third place award went to Holland 1989 . Second place went to The Loyalists . And the grand prize--an amazing 8 hours of recording time in a professional studio--went to the original Vikings, Silent Earth .

A special thanks goes out to the BOB exec who met weekly all year to ensure that everything was ready to go on performance night. Thanks especially to Adam Springer for emceeing and for keeping it safe for students on the floor in front of the stage. Thanks also to the teacher judges, Ms. Alibashev, Mr. Steponas, and Mr. Wallace. Thanks to Tadman for holding down the technical fort and the other students who assisted with the setup, smooth running, and take down of the event. And thanks to Mr. Iskandar for supervising.

The teacher band--consisting of Mr. Desousa on drums, Mr. Sharp on bass and vocals, and Mr. Lee who sang and burned up the fretboard of his guitar and proved himself to be the true heir of Jimi Hendrix--reminded us that a passion for music is timeless. Their energy and fervor was infectious. We look forward to next year's event--where, in words of Mr. Steponas, we hope to hear "more cowbell".
