The Toronto District School Board will be running an after-school Driver Education session here at Etobicoke C.I. from October 17th to December 19th on Tuesday from 3:30PM to 6:00PM. This course is Ministry-approved and provides participants eligibility for auto insurance discounts. Information and application forms are available at http://www.drivered.tdsb.on.ca

The Election has come and gone and Students spoke loud and clear. At ECI the students narrowly elected the Liberal Candidate, Donna Cansfield followed closely by the Green Party candidate, Greg King. In the referendum, our students, in a very close race, selected to stick with the First Past the Post system.

Congratulations to the Tennis Team. At the West Regional yesterday, The Boys A doubles of Paul Warchuk and Mohamed Shekasalah took silver, while the Boys B, Martin Petleov & Micheal Spiering went undefeated to win the West Regional Championship
The Girls B doubles, Nicole Karpinski and Andrea Hasbid won silver while Girls A double, Kathleen Kurman and Kieran Darcy continues to play today
All four teams will play in the city championships on the 31st

The University of Guelph has 2 entrance Scholarships available. The President's Scholarship & the Lincoln Alexander Chancellor's Scholarship. Both look for students with a minimum of 85% average & a demonstration of leadership abilities in the school and community. We cam nominate 2 students for the President's Scholarship and one for the Lincoln Alexander. If you wish to be considered for one of these awards, see Ms. Ison by Friday October 12. Thank You.

Congratulations to our Senior Football team for their 16 - 7 win over Silverthorn. Special mention goes out to James Wells who scored 2 touchdowns and had 2 sacks. Great game Rams - we will see you at 3:30 in full equipment in 007 for film then we'll take the field for a full practice.

We play Richview this Saturday at Richview at 2:00PM and we are hoping to have lots of fan support from ECI!!

If you are looking for a fun place to volunteer and you like children, sports, games and crafts, then PLASP Child Care Services may be the place for you. PLASP is looking for guys and girls for their after school programs. Volunteers usually participate one day a week after school until 6:00PM. If you are interested in volunteering with PLASP, please sign up to attend the orientation which is mandatory and will be at lunch on Tuesday October 9. The sign up sheet is in Student Services.

Listen up ECI! ECI is holding it's 1st Student Vote. Throughout the week, all the parties will be campaigning to win your vote. The provincial parties represented in our school are: Liberal, Progressive Conservative, New Democratic Party and the Green Party. There will also be a referendum on the way we vote - 1st past the post and mixed member proportional. On Friday October 5, we will have an all-candidates meeting in the Auditorium where you will hear directly from the candidates. On Tuesday October 9, you will have the chance to vote for your party. We encourage you to come out and vote. Who would you want to run Ontario? Vote or die ECI!!!!

The TD Canada Trust Scholarship applications are available now in the Guidance Office. The key criteria are outstanding community leadership combined with academic achievement. Students may be going on t college or university. The due date is Oct 31.
